Baked Rice Pudding ala Dutch Oven

is a simple and tasty way to use rice to make a delicious desert in any survival or disaster situation.  Made with simple ingredients this dish can slow cook in the background

in a dutch oven or glass/ceramic baking dish set on a grill or in the campfire coals.

You can use powdered or canned milk, depending on what you have available.  Canned or condensed milk will add a bit of sweetness to the dish, witch in The Disaster Chef’s opinion is always a good thing. Nothing is worse then having a sweet tooth flair up during the zombie apocalypse!

You May also substitute the sugar with brown sugar, or honey or even a bit of corn syrup. If using Honey or corn syrup, use slightly less then you think you should, as they tend to be a bit sweeter then their granulated counterpart.

When cooking the Baked Rice Pudding ala Dutch Oven, you can actually use a ceramic casserole dish with aluminum foil over the top if you don’t have a dutch oven. Anything works when you are doing survival cooking. Be sure to keep the foil tightly sealed over the dish to retain some of the moisture and keep any ash out.
