Sometimes in a disaster or survival cooking situation, especially in rural areas or areas bordering seas and oceans, it is possible to fish for diner.    this is a quick and easy recipe to prepare just about any type of fish.

Most creeks or streams have some sort of fish in them, although it should be noted, so waterways are polluted and the fish should be avoided.

  • 4 fish fillets
  • 1 lemon (or lemon juice)
  • 1 tablespoon kosher salt
  • 1 tablespoon dry dill
  • Pepper to taste
  • Olive oil or butter
  • 4 foil sheets

  1. Lightly grease bottom of foil sheets with olive oil or butter.
  2. Place the fish fillet on top and sprinkle each with ¼ of the salt and dill and pepper as desired.
  3. Slice half the lemon into rings. Squeeze the juice from the other half of the lemon over the top of the fish.
  4. Place two rings over each fish and drizzle with olive oil or add a small pat of butter. Fold in sides and roll tightly to seal the packet.
  5. Place the packet over smoldering white campfire coals or a bbq grill  for 3 minutes. Flip and continue cooking for 3 more minutes.
  6. Remove from the fire and allow to sit for at least 5 minutes before eating.
